HAE AWARENESS DAY SUCCESS

Last Saturday 20th May the Hereditary Angioedema charity, (HAE) UK, held their first face to face Patient Day since 2019.  Over 50 patients attended the one-day conference held in London which saw guest speakers, breakout sessions and a Q&A session.  HAE is a rare condition characterised by huge swelling of the tissues (angioedema) which last from 3 to 5 days. These swellings can occur on any part of the body; hands and feet, arms and legs, trunk, intestines, genital organs, face, tongue, neck and airway.  The swellings are rare but can be life threatening; affecting approximately 1500 people around the UK.

Ann Harding, Quattro’s Road Services Director and Chair of the charity was in attendance.  ‘We were delighted to welcome so many people to our informative and hopefully useful Patient Day.  HAE can be a very challenging condition to live with so the more information we can disseminate out to patients and their families the better.  We are extremely grateful to all the guest speakers who gave up their free time and spoke with such clarity and passion.’

John Murphy, Quattro MD:

‘We will continue to support the charity and help spread awareness of the condition.  We’re glad the awareness day was such a success!’
