Let's Talk: Quattro Expands Mental Health Support with 19 MHFAs

In a step towards fostering a healthier and more supportive workplace, Quattro has expanded its mental health support network by training and appointing 19 new Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAs) across the UK.
The initiative is part of Quattro’s broader commitment to employee wellbeing, recognising that mental health is just as vital as physical safety in rail. HR Manager, Melanie Webb explained the appointments would be far reaching and inclusive.
‘Due to the nature of our rail operations small teams often work in remote areas which can lead to feelings of isolation. By expanding our MHFA support network we are ensuring that support is available to every single member of our workforce.’
Each MHFA is qualified with the FAA Level 3 award in supervising first aid for mental health, equipping them with the skills to recognise signs of mental ill-health, offer initial support, and guide individuals to appropriate professional help. The HR Manager explained that ‘talking’ is a central part of Quattro culture, and one with a proven track record.
‘We have been working to foster a culture of openness around mental wellbeing, and talking is clearly working’, said Melanie Webb. ‘We’ve had a lot of positive feedback, so hope to continue to go in the right direction to create transparency around mental wellbeing. We want our people to feel safe, seen, and supported.’
The new MHFA support network will be available effective immediately, with extra focus during stress awareness month of April, and mental health awareness month in May. Staff can access a central helpline email, ‘Let’s Talk.'
‘A conversation can change someone’s day, and sometimes, even their life’, said Melanie, ‘So if anyone feels they need to talk… let’s talk.'
Managing Director, John Murphy added, 'Quattro is, and always has been a family. The fact that so many stepped forward for the MHFA initiative is a testament to our company strength; it's the people. Let's keep talking, Q-Army.'
To access an MHFA contact any of the following team in your depot by emailing letstalk@quattroplant.co.uk or calling 0800 900 2999 quoting ‘mental health first aider please’.
