Quattro's Dave Sowden Praised For Keeping Project (And Golfers!) On Track

11/09/2025

Recently, Quattro was contacted by the manager of Mitcham Golf Club regarding a “great frontman”: Fareham fitter, Dave Sowden.

Dear Quattro

Please forward this email to your HR/Project Managers.

We are currently having works carried out by one of your clients and they are using your equipment which is being based in designated spaces in our car park.

I just wanted to praise your member of staff 'Dave' who is onsite and has been extremely helpful in resolving this issue with us.

Nothing is too much trouble and he works hard to keep things in order.

A great front man for your company.

Thank you!

The golf club manager was impressed with Dave after he spent two weekends organising the large amount of machinery needed for a full track relay.

Quattro had been allocated ten spaces in the golf club’s car park for its fleet of Doosans, Komatsus and trailers. However, with so much equipment arriving the vehicles soon spread beyond the agreed area, just as the club was preparing for a major competition. It was a situation that could easily have caused disruption.

Instead, thanks to Dave’s initiative, the project stayed on track and the golf club remained happy.

Dave explained how he managed the challenge:

“I was there to carry out the PDIs before the weekend, but what had been agreed with our customer and the golf club was that they would have ten spaces. Understandably, the golf club manager was frustrated because all the machines had taken twenty spaces. I tried to reorganise it and tidy it up as best I could and managed to get some in the access gate and reduce it back to ten spaces. The following week we were there again for the next weekend. There was equipment everywhere again, blocking the maintenance shed. I went through it with our customers, opened another access gate and tidied it up.”

Dave, who joined Quattro five years ago, is well known at the Fareham depot for his hard work and calm, practical approach. Living just 15 minutes away, he says he loves his job and is pleased his efforts achieved the right results for both the customers and the golf club manager.

“I really like getting on with things and getting them sorted! It was nice to hear from the golf club, I’m glad the manager is happy. Getting the machines in proper order meant we could complete the job effectively for the customer. It’s not a problem, I saw it and sorted it, just part of a job I love.”

Mike Tunnicliffe, Fareham Depot Manager, praised Dave’s efforts:

“Dave is an excellent fitter and a genuinely good person. He could easily have said the car park arrangements were not his responsibility, but instead he took the initiative. He communicated clearly with everyone, put in the extra effort, and made sure all parties were satisfied. He is a real asset to the depot and to the company. We are lucky to have him.”

Managing Director John Murphy added:

“Dave understands that a crucial part of any Quattro job involves clear communication. We’ve got to make tracks beyond rail, with people too, and this is a prime example of what the Q-Army does: respect our customers and communities. Well done Dave, not only for orchestrating this mammoth task, but for taking responsibility to carry it out. That’s tee-rific fitting, above and beyond!”

Quattro would like to thank the Mitcham Golf Club manager for taking the time to get in touch. Positive feedback from outside the business makes a real difference to morale, reminding our teams that their extra efforts are noticed and valued.
