Storm Ingrid - Q-Army Repair

Late last Friday night Quattro took an urgent call to support emergency works on the South Devon coast after Storm Ingrid battered through a brick-retaining wall adjacent to the railway. Colossal waves led to a section of the wall failing, with a significant volume of brickwork and masonry falling onto the ballast and fouling the running line.

Due to ongoing high wave activity, poor ground conditions and restricted access along the coastal section, a specialist RRV was required. By Saturday morning, Quattro’s PW160-8 had worked on the safe removal of displaced masonry and debris clearance.

“Storm Ingrid gave the South Devon coastline a real battering and caused extensive damage to the wall,” said Matt Harper, Depot Manager, Liverton. “The pounding and force of the waves caused a large amount of masonry to be brought down onto the track.  After the urgent call, we put the plant and people in place and were able to clear it safely.”

“Mother Nature brought us some incredible drama with Storm Ingrid”, added Quattro Managing Director, John Murphy. “It’s a good job the Liverton Q-Army is always at the ready to help with the mop up, 24/7!”
