The Problem

London Gateway is the UK’s most integrated logistics hub, with a deep-sea port moving 174,000 containers every day, an international rail terminal and an extensive land bank housing one of the most significant construction projects in the capital.

Work has just begun on the construction of a 231,000 sq ft warehouse on the site, and the project is continually growing, with the opportunity for nine million sq ft of industrial space when complete.

With so much activity, it is vital that the site is kept spick and span – Quattro Plant were approached to provide daily sweeping service to ensure the site is clean and safe for ongoing works.

The Quattro Plant Solution

With numerous clients working on one site, and such a large area to cover, it was vital that the Quattro Plant solution delivered not only a reliable service, but offered one point of contact for the project, ensuring that should any emergencies or issues arise, there was always a fully briefed team member ready to jump into action.

Quattro Plant Environmental Director Ann Harding oversaw the management of this busy project, and arranged for the team from the 24-hour environmental hire desk, to have regular contact with the various client teams.

With such a large site to consider, two Quattro Plant sweepers are continually allocated to the project, with regular rotations or routine maintenance. Daily updates ensure that ever operator and fitter sent to site is fully briefed on planned works and any changes to the client requirement.

The Result

With multiple elements to consider, including rail, logistics and civils construction, as well as numerous key stakeholders involved in the planning, the DP World London Gateway Project is a busy site, and it is vital that every element is considered when planning and delivering the ongoing project.

Open communication channels between client and Quattro Plant depot staff, operators and management allows this complex project to continue to run smoothly.
