HGV Class 1 & 2 Driver

To
undertake transport of plant and machinery to and from site as
required, ensuring a safe and efficient operation at all times. To
ensure that plant and machinery arrive in a safe and usable condition
and to load/unload in compliance with the Company’s, the Client’s and
the Main Contractor’s safety procedures.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To work in a safe and efficient manner in compliance with the safety and operating instructions of the Company, the Client and the Main Contractor as appropriate.
- To undertake plant loading, transportation and unloading duties as assigned by the Depot Manager and/or the Logistics Planner
- Carry out safety check on vehicles and trailers on a daily basis and before any long journey
- Act as an ambassador for the Company at all times, being courteous to Clients and other road users
- To notify the Company of any incidents that may impact on the status of your driving licence
- To undertake daily plant maintenance activities as directed
- Any other duties as may reasonably be requested from time to time.
- To participate in drug and alcohol screening when required
- To report any defect in vehicles and plant and monitor safety performance
- To ensure you follow all control measures outlined in any risk assessment relating to the work you do
- To report any accident, incident or near miss in which you are involved or which you witness and to fully cooperate with any subsequent investigation
- To use the designated Personal Protective Equipment at all times as directed and to maintain it in accordance with the instructions provided, reporting any loss or damage in the required manner
- To ensure that you refuse to work on the grounds of safety whenever you believe that you have been placed in an unsafe situation or are given instructions to undertake an unsafe operation
Essential Skills and Competencies
- Fully conversant with the safe loading, transport and unloading (and where appropriate, the maintenance requirements) of the plant used on site
- Holds valid and appropriate HGV competence certifications for the vehicles used in the role
- Aware of the appropriate safety procedures and attentive to risk at all times
- Fully aware of drivers’ hours and working hours regulations
- Responsible, dependable with a mature attitude
- Customer focused and keen to do a good job
- Physically fit
- CPCS Loader Securer or equivalent
- CPCS Lorry Loader Hook or equivalent
- CPC driver qualification card
